There comes a time in every person's life when they wonder, where the hell did all my socks go? But seriously, where. Besides the fact I barely purchase any pairs to begin, I never even replenish those that go missing.
Aside from my running socks (not a lot there either), it's time to do a reality check. Or should I say sock check. I mean it's only right to put some emphasis on looking & feeling good on the outside and underneath. Plus, I'm too old to do yoga with mismatched socks.
I know I'm not alone in fighting this good fight so I created a sock checklist. It's pretty self-explanatory and something I aim to do every season #newyearnewsocks. If you want to keep your socks on point, feel free to give my checklist a go.
First Step
- any socks with holes or worn out heels (i.e. thinning fabric), discard
- any socks without a buddy, discard (or donate to a textile charity)
Second Step
- create an inventory of socks that you do need based on your lifestyle
- suggestions on what to add: knee-high socks, opaque black tights, ankle socks, athletic (wicking) socks, boot socks, no-show socks, and fun socks if you want to get a little crazy
Third Step
- Stick to your list and get your socks
- Don't stray from the list
Pretty self explanatory right? I think the hardest part is remembering that our socks need love too and should be replenished. We do, after all spend a lot of time standing, running, and stepping every where in them. And if you're curious, I try and have no more than 3 to 5 pairs of socks in every category of style. I've been getting my socks from K. Bell (best slouchy and plush socks on the market!!) for their amazing quality and great deals. Socks can definitely make or break an outfit, and also make painful shoes a little less painful.
Here's to paying more attention to our feet and maybe a few more pedicures :).
