An original beauty lives in Dumbo. She goes by Jane.
Named after the artist who spent years restoring the horses and carriages to their original beauty, Jane's Carousel is quite the splendor. And for only $2 a ride, it's a must do when in New York City.
Jane's Carousel has seen quite the journey from Philadelphia, Ohio, and finally Dumbo, New York. It is situated in the Brooklyn Bridge Park with an amazing view of the skyline across the East river. Artist Jane Walentas even hired Jean Nouvel, a pritzker prize winner, to create the carousel's housing. Although it may look like an ordinary square acrylic box, do not be fooled, at night the horses' shadows are projected onto the walls in the pavillion.
There are gems just like this one scattered all throughout the city, but the inner child in me will always have a soft spot for Jane's.
