It's a weird coincidence that I lived one block away from where I'm currently living. These two neighborhoods are separated by a single block. I'll turn what I just said and make an Aileen-ism. In 2005, I was living in neighborhood past and dependent. Then, one day I had to cross this block called "Chicagoan Perspective will Change You" to get to the local bus to sanity. I took the local bus back and stayed on the other side of the block called "Almost There".
THAT MAKES NO SENSE... well a portion of it does to me.
This is a photo I took on the pedestrian walkway back in '05.
All I wanted to do was leave the city but felt like there was something intangible grasping at my laces. The problem at the time was, I didn't know what that something was. I felt trapped with the ability to move across highways and expressways, unable to get out of my car.
That was then of course.
