Pleather Heaven Season

October 28, 2013

Photos by Lydia Hudgens.

The absolute best part about fall is being able to wear pleather skirts and not worry about impending sweat sessions between your thighs. Literally in pleather heaven season. But, other than that there is a hovering doom and gloom when packing away the denim mini skirts and tangerine sandals, and pulling out the tent sized down coats - one for me and another for the pup.

I held onto summer all the way up until last week, making it a point to add #hotdogsorlegs when sunning at the local park. Yes, I am that girl. I am truly obsessed with our hot and muggy weather. Not sure if it's because my landlord believes in turning off the water heater during blizzards or because my birthday usually falls during a blizzard.

Although the temperature has dropped to high 40s here in New York City, I'll look at the glass a little more than half full now that pleather and sweaters are trending for the seasons.

Going Behind the Stripes

October 10, 2013

Photos by Lydia Hudgens.

Finally! I have time to post up these UH-mazing photos that (best boss ever) Lydia took of me during New York Fashion Week. And if you love these then be sure to like her Facebook page. You might even recognize a few of the bloggers and campaigns she's worked on.

I will always gravitate and lust after the chance to get creative when it comes to fashion. Whether it's DIYs, thriftstore finds, or pairing insane prints on neons, there is just so much opportunity to express yourself without having to sacrifice a lot of cash. Unless of course you want to, then by all means do you.

During NYFW, instead of looking at my closet like I didn't have anything to wear I decided to look at my closet and my boyfriends closet and realized I have a lot to wear. Add Lydia's amazing accessories and I got the whole model off duty look. Yes, my skirt may be very short but how many people can say they accidently flashed Karen from Where Did U Get That?

How do you ladies get your stripes on?

Rings: House of Harlow 1960/Cat Ring from UEJewelry  Chain Bracelet: Express (old but I love this one)  Necklace: Bauble Bar  Skirt: Joie (old but this one is similar)  Sweater: Boyfriend's (but try that or this)  Sunglasses: Asos  Purse: Pour La Victoire  Wedges: Toms  Lipgloss: Maybelline in Captivating Coral

Down By Jane's:

October 3, 2013

An original beauty lives in Dumbo. She goes by Jane.

Named after the artist who spent years restoring the horses and carriages to their original beauty, Jane's Carousel is quite the splendor. And for only $2 a ride, it's a must do when in New York City.

Jane's Carousel has seen quite the journey from Philadelphia, Ohio, and finally Dumbo, New York. It is situated in the Brooklyn Bridge Park with an amazing view of the skyline across the East river. Artist Jane Walentas even hired Jean Nouvel, a pritzker prize winner, to create the carousel's housing. Although it may look like an ordinary square acrylic box, do not be fooled, at night the horses' shadows are projected onto the walls in the pavillion.

There are gems just like this one scattered all throughout the city, but the inner child in me will always have a soft spot for Jane's.

If there's anything in NYC you would like me to cover please send me an e-mail.

What She Carries: The Market Tote ✨
Quite possibly my favorite purse purchase this year - the Market tote by Maeden. It’s been worn to work, play dates, errands, and yes, even the farmer’s market.
