Being a Queens kids, it felt about time I ease people into my favorite neighborhood haunts. Maybe later we'll delve a bit deeper into my homeland but for now we'll stick with LIC just to give you guys a taste.
Start your day off with a farm-to-table (and incredibly delicious) menu at Sage General Store. It's American Comfort Food at it's best and hits bacon aficionados in the sweet spot. Seriously, lots of bacon options which has me wondering why I'm still typing away and not there right now. Tip: Go for brunch!
P.s. 1 is an art museum that once was a school. Lots of interesting installations and exhibitions are frequently changed up. During the summers, they host Warm Up Saturdays which is a pretty awesome dance party fueled by craft beer. If you're in the city you should try to attend one, and if dancing isn't your steez you can always explore the museum. Tip: Residents can attend for free if they bring an utility bill.
End your day by catching the sunset in Gantry Plaza State Park. Ever seen that Pepsi-Cola sign near the water? Yep, that's the park. It's free, has great photo ops, and is a riverside oasis to all of us Queens residents. Not to mention, the view is quite breathtaking.
Hope you all take the chance to visit Long Island City soon, and bookmark this post for reference.
