My curly hair is both a blessing and a curse. At the tender age of 7 I was nicknamed Chia Pet and loathe my curls which later led to an impromptu bathroom session which further branded me as a real live Chia Pet. I also went the route of straightening my hair during my teens years to escape the kinks. It would take two hours plus to straighten my thick hair - I gave that up very quickly as well. It wasn't until my "wild hair" caught the eye of an agency, that I started to like my curls. It made me stand out and once I figured out the rhythm to which my curls bounced life became easier.
