The great thing about fashion is that you can get away with anything if you follow the "rules" but you can get away with so even more if you break them. It's similar to film in that regard. Just take a look at any of Jean Luc Goddard's films, you will immediately fall in love with them. He strays away from the conventional and indulges in the school of French New Wave. He knows why jump cuts are infamous but uses them in such a way it becomes part of his storyline. His films work because they are fresh and innovative.
Spring 2013 brought us a lot of floral and military trends. Now I could just wear one floral piece and play it safe by pairing it with all black items. BUT, that's kind of boring - I rather push it to the limit. Exaggeration was my friend during this outing and it was kept cool by pairing it with a military button up. It feels a little bit punk thanks to the Doc Martens but it fits well in the spectrum of New York City.
Why not venture outside of your comfort zone and pair prints on prints. Just keep it in the same color family and rock it.
P.s. I love a good babydoll dress and a pair of Docs.Jacket: Stolen from the boy via
