The Essentials: October 2015

Compared to last month, I basically dove straight into my cabinets (where I keep my secret stash of hair, skin, & beauty products). I also expanded my skincare routine so it's more of a layering routine (if you're curious you can learn more about that here). After a good month of testing these guys (and reading lots of reviews) I bring you my October essentials.

I can't mention everything otherwise I'd be here forever but maybe it's something I'll explore on YouTube one day. I do wanna chitchat about a few standout products.

Hair: I'm not one for dry shampoo since it never really works well on my curls, but after trying Carol's Daughters Monoi Dry Shampoo I quickly changed my mind. (Make sure you order in a tone close to your hair color). There's no parabens or sulfates and doesn't weigh down the curls just make sure to massage through your roots. Another fave is the Marc Anthony Macadamia Oil Conditioning Treatment. I've only found this in packets at Ulta so it may (??) be sold in a tub, either way, it's super affordable and  made my hair feel super soft and smell great. Pick it up if you're looking to up your hair game.

Skin: I started using First Aid Beauty sometime this past summer and love how gentle but effective the entire line is. I picked up the Facial Radiance Pads to help dimish dark spots and brighten my skin and have been so amazed by the results. A little pricey but a great BHA for those in need. I've also upped my mask game with dermae's charcoal mask. I'm trying to mask twice a week; one that is moisturizing and another that keeps my face free & clear. The dermae mask has been great for removing toxins from my face without leaving my skin tight - it's also all natural.

Body: Molton Brown will always be a star in my eyes. The smell from the eucalyptus line is so invigorating in the AM or PM - it just makes me feel so chill after. It's a little pricey but it's how I've been treating myself (i.e. worth it). I've also been pleasantly surprised my the MoroccanOil hand cream - this is going to be a lifesaver once the temps drop.

Berry Hues for Fall!

Alright, I'm going to be totally honest and say there was not enough summer last season. Now that I got that out into the open let's talk beauty (my happy place). Did I mention I've been taking a few classes a la YouTube to help improve my blending (and justify a few new fall purchases).

Wearing Pale Muave.

I haven't had a great fall lip color since forever so I was in the market for a new moody berry luckily I was invited to test out Bobbi's Brown limited edition lipcolor trio. The three different shades are universally flattering so they'll make a great gift for a friend or yourself. You can find the trio at your local Neiman Marcus (click here for the store locator) or online.

Although all three shades will get a ton of use this fall I'm especially fond of the Salmon color. It's a gorgeous go everywhere shade - but for a night out I'll probably reach for the Soft Rose shade. For this Bobbi Brown trio the colors included are: Pale Muave, Salmon, and Soft Rose.

Along with learning how to blend (did you know it takes Kim Kardashian four hours to blend), I also picked up a few tips for long lasting lip color:

- Before anything, brush your lips to get rid of any dead skin. It'll help your lips look smoother. I use a soft bristle toothbrush and after brushing wipe away flaky dry skin with a moist towel.

- Next, I apply a lip balm that's not too overwhelming and apply a thin layer to keep my lips moisturized. A great one that I love is from Fresh (also at NM). Keeping your lips moisturized will give you a smooth application.

- To get my lip color to stay put all day I line my lips and then fill them in with a lip liner. I use a clear liner but using the same color as your lips is another choice.

- Now the fun part! Apply your lipstick. I like to start in the center and work my way out. After applying blot your lips.

You can find all these everything you need for your lip (and create a kit so to speak) at Neiman Marcus' beauty section or shop them below:

I'm a Classpass Ambassador!

You guys, I have some exciting news while overseas and I can finally let the cat out of the bag. I'm a Classpass Ambassador! To be honest, I almost didn't apply to the program because I didn't feel like I looked like a hardcore fitness girl. But sometimes you gotta ignore your self doubt and take a chance on things - besides, what's the worst thing that can happen?

So, there I was in Lebanon searching for a steady stream of wifi so I could take a chance and go all in. And I made the cut!

My Classpass obsession started last year and I dove head first into the plethora of classes throughout the city. One week I ventured into yoga, the next I fought wine-induced bloating at HIIT, when I felt too weak to run I hopped on a bike. It's been a lifesaver when it comes to reducing stress and toning up my desk-bod. And no, being an ambassador doesn't mean a free ride. I pay monthly for my membership because I honestly believe it has helped me live a healthier lifestyle. Also, their founder is a total #GIRLBOSS - with the help of her team she's been able to spread their program globally. Insane, right?

Next year I'm running the NYC Marathon (finally!) and my routine is going to heavy on the cardio & Classpass. For some weird reason I can run and run when outdoors but once I'm inside, in a gym, I lose all motivation to weight train or stretch. You would die if I told you how long it took me to finally cancel my unused membership at New York Sports Club. It still makes me cringe thinking about it. But now I know better. For instance, I generally do better in classes with peers and an instructor that guides me in a workout.

There's actually a whole group of us kicking off the first Classpass Ambassador program and you can meet them all here and follow our adventures on social with #ClasspassAmbassador.

If you're a member, hit me up. I love finding new workout buddies. And if you're looking for a new fitness plan try out Classpass. I promise, it's so easy to do and there are so many different classes at all hours, you will definitely become obsessed.

Sign up here and get started with $10 off your membership (full disclosure I get $10 off my membership too but I indeed pay for my full membership).
