Let's Talk Layers + Lebanon

Ever felt like you needed a vacation from your vacation? That's me 100% right now. And I just got back from one.

I am so glad to finally sleep in my delicious bed with my cuddly creatures but wished I did a few things differently. For instance, I'm starting to regret the work I did abroad and being available via email. An overflowing inbox gives me anxiety, but I missed out on a few walking tours around Beirut. Should've listened to big sister when she said to disconnect. You live and you learn.

Lebanon was glorious you guys and I'm working on a video to share a few sights. My sis and I weren't able to see everything (safety first) but what we did see was full of color, culture, and epic history.

Who knew sandstorms could make for incredibly hot & humid days. If the sis and I didn't stop in Paris we probably would've had temperature shock (see: first world problems).

Paris was a few notches chillier than NYC but it gave me the perfect atmosphere to perfect the art of layering. For me, a strong layer game includes multiple pieces you can take off when the afternoon sun is just too hot. Another thing to keep in mind are layers that don't add bulk to your frame while keeping you warm.

Beanie: Jac Vanek (similar style)  Necklace: Custom (similar)  TopEquipment  (save)  Sweater: Charles Henry (love this)  Jacket: Joe Fresh  Leggings: similar  WatchRumbaTime  Lipstick: Borghese B Moisture in Berry  Boots:  Cat Footwear

To help perfect your layer game, find the perfect lightweight base. My Equipment shirt creates the perfect base and has been my smartest investment piece yet. The rest should fall into place - or better yet on top of with a thin-but-warm pullover. Scarves and beanies are of course optional.

A few other accessories to give some thought to (and possibly add to your wishlist) are the Cat boots and RumbaTime Gramercy Mesh watch. If I had to choose boots or heels, I'd stick with boots for all of entirety. I've also had my fair share of really awesome and sucky boots. These Paula boots from Cat Footwear lean towards awesome for being comfortable and versatile. The Gramercy Mesh watch Is an affordable piece that has upgraded my life in general. I always wear it when heading into meetings or dinner events - it's just so elegant.

The Essentials: September 2015

Happy September!! Before we know it, we'll be flying into the holidays. With that in mind I've kept my essentials short & sweet and highlighted what I loved last month and can't wait to use all this month. I'm also foraying into shoppable images so feel free to "click to shop" the collage down below. Or let me know if you hate it - your feedback is important to me.

This might be the first essential that I have without any clothing pieces - not a bad thing necessarily since there are still a few standouts you should know about. The FEED Pouch helps feed people around the world, the products are also really well made. I got the FEED pouch 50 and signed up for the RUN 10 FEED 10 race later this month - it's feels great to give back!

I am an Etsy junkie and discovered Thyme & Honey through another blogger - you guys the notebooks are so cute and can help organize any hot mess days.

Also, Glossier's Balm Dotcom is a must-have for your beauty bag. The skin salve helps soothe rough skin and contains natural emollients to seal in moisture.

Shop my essentials below:

Any essentials you're absolutely loving? Let me know down below!

P.s. I want to enjoy every bit of my trip so posting will continue on the 15th. Make sure to keep up with me here!

TSB: August Rack Up

August is like the Sunday of the summer season. I've really haven't enjoyed summer as much as I wanted to which is a shame. I've been working non-stop so it's time for me to reflect on what I'm doing and what needs to change (#realtalk). Anyone else have a work-filled summer? Well, let's take a look back at the only "play" I had this summer - my outfits :).

If you noticed, I changed up the Rack Ups to include the shoppable widgets. It makes for a more seamless experience in case you see something you like.

Getting back to the August looks, my favorite had to be the outfit I wore with my Swedish Hasbeens. You know when you wear something that makes you go "Dayumn I feel good" - well that look 100% made me feel good.

Anything cool or crazy happen to you during this past month you want to share?
