Introducing the New Body by Victoria

Six months after the end of January I tend to go on the hunt for new bras. Not any bras in particular, but one that fits perfectly and wont make this summer hotter than it is. Being the daredevil that I am, I took the Body by Victoria Challenge before stocking up on my mid-summer basics (nude, white, black) and a few fun pieces.

It's a lot easier than it sounds (trust) and you don't even a measuring tape. The Body by Victoria Challenge will make assessments about the current bra you're wearing and it's fit. This risk-free challenge offers free shipping and returns if you purchase the recommended bra size as well.

For me, I wore one of my regular bras (the no-frills basic kind) and went through the questions. I clicked on my current size, whether my straps fall off or stay on (they tend to fall), how the band feels and how the cups fit. After a few questions the quiz gave me my right size and I had the option of building my boutique or going straight to the shop. Obviously I went for the shop.

In the end I received the perfect shape, demi, and lounge bra - all of them were spot on, smooth (no lines) and incredibly soft. One of them had a lace detail and it was pretty close to a no-show underneath my top as well. You'll be impressed with their array of colors and styles - something for everyone.

I will admit my favorite addition to V.S.'s collection is their Lounge Collection. I legit bought a few (read: a lot) more of these incredibly soft bras in nearly every color. They are being marketed as bras to chill in but I think you can wear them under anything.

Sidenote: earlier this year I learned its not good to wear one single bra daily and instead let it breathe for a full day after being worn... Mind blown right? For that reason alone, it's good to bookmark Victoria's Secret next sale (August 8th thru 11th) in which you'll get a $25 gift card with every three bras purchased from their new line. Even better, when you shop Victoria Secret through ShopAtHome.com you get 2% cash back until the 31st and then 1% after that.

While you're on the site taking the challenge don't forget to enter the Body by Victoria Sweeps. With the purchase of any Body by Victoria bra you are automatically entered to win a Jaguar - click over to enter here.

Overalls for Summer

Remember Piperlime? These Paige overalls were priced so low (under $50) I took the plunge and committed myself to trying out something new and scary.

I've already worn them on my trip to Disney World paired with a turtleneck and loved the look. However now that we're in the thick of summer turtlenecks are not going to fly. Since overalls are sort of a foreign concept I needed help from the fashion gods who commonly go by the name of #stylechat and Pinterest. I dived right into the deep internets and still came up empty - combinations of overalls and heels just aren't my thing during a weekend.

In the end I went with my gut and dressed for me. Relaxed and ready to tackle the weekend ahead.

I wore my Brooklyn sandals from Bearpaw to tackle any and all errands in Brooklyn and a white tee. I also kept my bucket bag filled my beauty favorites in case there was a boozy brunch calling my name or improntu dance party (I highly recommend the RollerLash mascara - it's amazing).

So how did I do? Knowing how my overall struggle is (get it) how would you style & conquer the overalls?

NYC: Weekend Plans

A few amazing things to include in your weekend plans before the summer season ends.

1. Hamilton's Soda Fountain & Luncheonette

I've heard, seen, and tasted so many great things from this historical luncheonette. The whole place is kind of like a time warp taking any that dare enter to a more simpler times. The interior is basically every fashion blogger & Instagrammers' dream - everything is so white and retro. If you somehow resist the urge to capture a snap make sure to order a fizzy drink or a milkshake. I like to drop in on less-than-stellar days and treat myself to happiness in a glass - it's cheaper than therapy ;).

2. Frida Kahlo Exhibit @ New York Botanical Garden

I have not yet been to this exhibit and it's driving me bonkers. However, it's on the must-do list and will definitely get accomplished before it's over. For those like-minded fans visiting or in NYC, we have until November 1st to view her reimagined garden and a dozen of her paintings. Getting to view an artist's surrounding (even if it's a replication) is one of the best ways to learn more about what goes on beyond the canvas. Also, I'm excited to learn more about my culture as half-Mexicana.

3. Baohaus

OK, so I totally added this eatery to my must-eats after viewing it on the Layover. I have passed by Baohaus millions upon millions of times and have never once pondered the thought of venturing inside. You guys, if I could I would go back in time and stop "past Aileen" in her tracks and demand she order the Birdhaus Bao & Taro Fries (please note the delicious things you should order) I would. Instead, I cry myself to sleep at all the missed opportunities of Birdhaus Baos. Don't let this become you! If you walk/drive/fly by Baohaus, just stop, take a break and eat there. Avoid my misery.
