NYC: 4 Things For This Week

Oh NYC, your bipolar weather has taught me to be prepared for the unexpected. Case in point, snow on the first day of spring. Thankfully, it was only a few flurries so my 'tude is still in good standing + I spent a good portion of this month pampering myself (which helps).

Here are a few new-to-me places to learn and relax this month:

1. Deify Beauty | Laser & Beauty Lounge

I've been treating myself to a little bit of laser hair removal - the perks of being a well-bred hispanic girl. Not sure if this is too taboo to talk about, but in the past I've bleached my hair and am basically over that bathroom mess. I found a great deal onGroupon (search Deify for all their deals!!) and never looked back.

1. Museum of Natural History x Etsy

Definitely not a new place of interest as I've been coming to this museum since my Pre-K days. BUT, what is new is this awesome collaboration between Etsy and the AMNH. Together, they teamed up to create products inspired by the natural world and the museum's magnificent collections. The 22 different Etsy designers have created scarves, tote bags all the way to games and a birdhouse. You can find these unique items in the museum's gift shop and online.

1. Gotham Writers Workshop

Another amazing place to get your learning on and network with a group of like-minded peers. As a blogger I feel it's essential to keep practicing my written word and receive criticism on how to improve. IF you can't afford the classes (i.e. me after rent) try attending their free classes. They tend to have two free classes a month and on a variety of classes - which I love to attend (free is the magic word).

1. Wink Brow Bar

If you ever wanted to see and truly understand what "brows on fleek" actually mean, you go to Wink Brow Bar. Found this place through Gilt City (love me some discounts) and tried their brow shaper service - loved it. After that I decided to throw caution to the wind and also did their brow tint - loved even more. When it comes to brows, this place is the holy grail and a must try.

Easy Waves Easy Look

Taking full advantage of dry shampoo and making this hair l a s t.

It takes close to two hours to straighten this head of hair - can you blame me for wanting a few more days of a fuss-free style? Didn't think so :).

With a fuss-free hairstyle it's only right to replicate it with an equally attainable style.

I'm wearing Slimsation pants which work wonders at concealing food babies in all the beautiful and different sizes they come in (i.e. highly recommend). Price point compared to similar leggings with shape-wear, also known as performance wear, is pretty amazing too.

It's basically a two-for-one deal, except it looks great on. Might as well pick up two or three pairs for the season.

Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Shirt: Madewell  Pants: c/o Slimsation  Necklace: Custom  Bracelet: Kenneth Jay Lane  Wet Pouch: c/o Pily Q (similar here)  Shoes: Zara (similar here)  Lipgloss: Buxom Full-On Lipgloss in Megan

To round out my hassle-free look I threw on my monogramed (Queens girl for life) chambray shirt and used this Pily Q wet swimsuit bag as a colorful clutch.

File this lewk under spring-time classic. Also, had so much fun playing with my hair (something I never ever do), I'm considering playing around with different styles every other month. What do you think?

Waiting on April Showers

Let's take a 180 degree turn and get in tune with my preppier side. As in prep-for-rain side :).

In preparation for the rainy season, I gave up a pair of barely worn rain boots to someone that truly needed them.

Let me explain by starting at the beginning.

A few weeks ago I was sorting through my boots and realized I've worn my rain boots twice since 2015. TWICE. Because fashion moves so quickly this particular style of rain boot couldn't be sold and honestly I've worn them in the mud - wouldn't be right to sell them after a muddy experience.

Instead I listed them on Craigslist for free and found someone who was super gracious for the freebies. It felt so good to give someone something they couldn't afford but needed. So, I listed a few more free items on there.

Rain Jacket: J. Crew  Shirt: Madewell  Jeans: Lucky Brand  Necklace: baublebar (old similar here)  Rings: Zoetik  Watch: RumbaTime  Purse: c/o Patricia Nash  Shoes: c/o Bearpaw  Lipgloss: c/o NARS - Priscilla

And with the additional space (and sticking with my one-out one-in rule) I went ahead and got something I will genuinely use. Like this gorgeous mint rain coat

You're probably wondering, what about rain boots or keeping your feet dry? Luckily a few of my boots are already weather-proof so until I desperately need a pair I'm probably going to pass for now.
