The Essentials: November 2014

Give me ALL of the turtlenecks of the world and anything that glitters and we are golden! Or at least a little bit closer to creating a dream wardrobe that can make the office holiday parties a little more fun.

Also, did I ever mention how I don't have a closet in my Brooklyn apartment. I mean we have one here, but it's incredibly tiny and the boyfriend stores his flannel in it. It's kind of tough, but one day (the big man upstairs as my witness) we will own our very own Brooklyn brownstone and it will have so many closets we won't know what to store in them. For this month, my focus is on comfortable shoes and luxe (but affordable) basics. 

I already bought the oxford shoes (19) and am obsessed with them - expect a post featuring them soon!!

Post Workout

I'll be the first to admit that it takes me a while to get out of my sweaty workout clothes and into a hot shower - please don't tell my dermatologist. Probably not the best thing to do, but until I start forming good habits - c'est la vie! Instead this post is dedicated to all the ladies want to look put together for quick errands (i.e. brunch) after a workout sesh.

For the days I rather squeeze in a workout than no workout at all, my street style will most likely consist of my running sneakers, sportswear and a cute crop top or sweater. The crop top or sweater is essential as a cute coverup and helps disguise any sweat stains (if we're being honest). As for jewelry - I skip it. I don't work out with jewelry, never have, never will. But, I will wear a scarf after and before working out. I'm loving Tilo's ombre scarf, it's super soft and light so the likelihood of overheating while wearing is slim. 

Now during the sweat session, I am pretty particular to what I'm wearing. I hate to chafe during a run, and the only way to avoid that is to pay attention to the fabrics. You want to make sure what you're wearing is moisture wicking, has stretch and support, and that the seams are flat and covered where it matters. The yoga pants (yes, if the pants are amazing I will wear them on a run) I'm wearing are from Balini Sportswear and has all that covered. Plus, they've designed their pants to flatter anyone's lower half.

Also, in case you haven't discovered - sweaty hair makes for a really good hair day. I might be the anomaly but at the same time I have thick curly hair - the dirtier the better.

With the sky as my limit when it came to my looks, I found myself reaching for skirts time and time again. I also found myself turning my black booties into look-a-likes of black knee-highs. It's better to improvise while I look for the perfect set of knee-highs and OTK suede boots - cause they aren't cheap. This month I also became aware of Joe Fresh and the amazingness they have been producing - their green moto jacket has been my favorite find this fall! Next month, still no theme but I love a good style challenge! Please feel free to throw some suggestions at me in the comments below or email me.
