NYFW | What to Wear

When MAJOR models agency is in your building, you kind of get the hint as to when NYFW is upon us. AND, my friends - it is upon us. There is nothing we can do to stall it, but we can prepare for it. With a few challenges (full-time job, uncooperative weather, and subways as transportation) thrown in of course, here's what I'll be wearing for NYFW.

This kick-ass printed dress inspired by Women We Love in New York is what I'll be wearing. Curious to see who Lafayette 148 chose, read all about that here.

When one enters the tents, let alone the sidewalk where all the hustle and bustle is happening, you want to feel and look confident, strong, and on point. Wearing this dress makes all that happen for me and more which is why I'm excited to rock it during Fashion Month.

Coat: Planet London  Dress: borrowed via Lafayette 148 (up to size 18)  Over the Knee Boots: Zara (similar style)  Necklace: c/o Capwell+Co  Earrings: c/o Capwell+Co  Purse: Rebecca Minkoff  Foundation: Ready Set Gorgeous by Covergirl  Lipstick: Audrey by NARS

As for the challenges, I got it all covered. This dress would crush it at the tents as it would at an office presentation. The chunky heels on my boots make slugging from the East to the West side and then back again, bearable (#subwaylife). And saying no to exposed knees, toes, and midriffs (+ a warm coat) will keep me warm compared to those baiting the street style photographers.

So, what do you think - would you say I'm ready for tents?

Off Duty | Work Style

Good morning friends! I'm finally back from a much needed getaway and family fun with my pint-sized niece. Things I learned while away: 5 year olds cannot handle Space Mountain, Orlando gets insanely chilly at night, and I need to plan more getaways with my sister (we had so much fun together).

Heading back to the office (and oh-so refreshed) I figured what better time than now to bring out the big guns, i.e. this navy blazer.

It's true what they say about blazers being an essential closet power-player. They can change the feel of any outfit and are a great piece to wear on important meetings. It does take time to find the one, but when you do make sure you get it tailored - a fitted blazer is a signal that this lady is ready to WORK and MAKE MOVES up any career ladder.

Blazer: Theory (affordable version)  Shirt: J. Crew  Jeans: Vigoss  Necklace: c/o Nashelle  Earrings: The Sak  Boots: Wanted (similar style)  Purse: c/o Ora Delphine  Foundation: Ready Set Gorgeous by Covergirl

This week is jam-packed with a few fashion affairs and date-nights with the S.O. so had to keep the look fashion-forward but office-friendly (aka off-duty while on duty). In order to do this I skipped the slacks and went straight for dark denim + a white bucket meant to grab anyone's attention. Accessories were minimal and kept to this hand-made piece from Nashelle and The Sak hoops (love my hoops). I find that keeping it all simple can make any look, effortless - don't cha think?

Like a spaz, I completely forgot to add on my favorite shade of red, but I do recommend Audrey from NARS Audacious line.

P.s. Doing a capsule wardrobe for 2015? Consider adding these great and versatile pieces (blazer, white shirt, dark denim) to your wardrobe.

Winter Weekend and Beyond Uniform

This weekend's challenge - make my suede BEARPAW Cinna boots chic enough for any day of the week. Trust, it was a bit hard to deviate from the norm - leggings. To spend the day in forgiving fabrics sound like a dream, add in a Bloody Mary, it's a typical Sunday. Yet with boots this warm, I wanted them to work on a chilly Monday too.

Vest: Zara (similar)  Sweater: All Saints (similar style)  Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch (similar style)  BraceletEtienne Aigner  Boots: c/o BEARPAW  Purse: c/o Elliot Lucca  Lipstick: Audrey by NARS

Ugh, now I'm craving a Bloody Mary - like ten of them. But... How do you guys like the look?! I felt so classy strolling through Duane Reade's snack aisle when wearing this, like so classy.

Sometimes a gal just wants to wear comfy shoes but needs to be semi-presentable (and really warm at the same time). These boots and this faux fur vest were made in chic-heaven for each other.

After covering all the comfy + chic bases, it was time to upgrade my purse for something that's more technology advanced. Enter the Genevieve tote, which holds my Kindle, Laptop and (way too) many organizers - perfect for the always on the go girl or social media chick. All in all, when you find the purse that fits your life, you can't do anything but jump for joy.

How do you ladies style your suede boots or Uggs during the weekend and workweek? Would love to get new ideas :).
