NYC: The Weekend Guide

Not sure what to do this weekend? I got you covered... and please be advised I was hungry while I was writing this list. I hope the next list will contain more arts and less food options. With that being said EAT UP!

Book yourself a daytrip or weekend getaway on cellarpass.com and explore one of New York's many wineries. Wine and dine yourself without the worry of having to drive when you use the LIRR.

Dreaming of France but out of vacation days (or $$$ for a flight) then take the L train to 298 Bedford. There you'll find Maison Premiere's outdoor garden that will magically transport you to a French Quarter-inspired drinking yard.

Two of my favorite things, pizza and art, make Pizzarte! It's a Pizzeria in midtown (69 W. 55th street to be exact) that showcases the best of the best artist out of Naples. Plus, their pizzas are fired up in wood-fire oven. 

For a much classier affair hit up Bosie Tea Parlor on 10 Morton Street for the absolute classiest pastry and wine pairings ever. Also, for those who need a bit more substance, they offer a wide array of delicious tea sandwiches along with full entrées. 

Now... could you tell that I was hungry?

Five Main NYC Chill Spots

Although there are a multitude of gems hidden across the city (aka the island of Manhattan), these spots always have me coming back for more when the temps rise. Except for the food spots, those places will always own my soul year round.

The Frying Pan

is amazing and quite frankly better than any rooftop bar. With a cool breeze from the water and a variety of drinks, this place always has me coming back with my wolfpack.

The drinks here at Elsa are superb + crafted with the utmost care. A super chill spot in the East Village where you can actually carry on a conversation with good friends. Bonus: It's so chill you'll barely recognize celebs sitting near you.

Let's just say that if you got locked in overnight at the Chelsea Market you wouldn't care. This place has everythinggg! Well, everything but a Duane Reade but seriously it's still amazing and situated right next to the highline.

Micheladas and heavenly arepas, also know as Caracas. Worth the wait and worth every dollar, you'll definitely find me here at least once a month. I swear if I didn't owe Sallie Mae so much loot, I'd be here every night.

So after the party, it's the after party, but after that it's straight to Pomme Frites. Open late, a million and one different sauces, fresh fries it would make any happy-houred person cry. Even if you're not happy-houred it's still one of those places you NEED to check out and eat at. Your tummy will thank you.

Five Favorite Spots in Prospect Park

Although I hail from Queens, I reside in Brooklyn. Won't say exactly where, but I live extremely close to Prospect Park and it's amazing. So when reviewing my posts, it was quite actually a shocker that I haven't posted anything about this glorious park. Raising rent can instill fear in a multitude of ways. But, this park is quite seriously my oasis away from the daily craziness that we call New York City. Here are my five favorite haunts around and in Prospect Park for the next time you take a trip to this magical land.

For some seriously strong coffee and great snacks (picnic anyone?) stop in at Tip of the Tongue and pay the friendly folks behind the counter a visit. Or if you're like me, stop in everyday because coffee is your mojo. The guys that run this place have a serious knack for creating happiness in a bite, especially during those brunch hours. Plus!! Fresh croissants every single day, just make sure you get there early enough since they tend to run out quick.

The best thing for you guys to do right now is to check out Celebrate Brooklyn!'s lineup and mark your calendars... So do that now here. Alright, now that you're back, the performances at this bandshell are usually free + the lineup can be pretty amazing. I tend to bring a blanket, a bottle of wine, good friends and enjoy the show outside of the actual bandshell area. The music is usually pretty loud to enjoy outside of the perimeters, so remember that tip when planning your trip.

Celebrate Brooklyn!

Visit the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket for fresh baked goods along with produce and fruits. It's a great way to interact with the community and take part in cooking lessons. Or, eat. If you haven't noticed by now I love to eat, can't stress that enough. Sometimes after running a loop through the park I'll make my way back to the market for some glorious carbs.

I'm actually really excited about the new LeFrak Center inside of Prospect Park, primarily because I love ice skating and roller skating (DJ Roller Dance series coming soon too). What's funny is that I used to live in a building, for a short while, called LeFrak City in Queens. I'm taking this a sign that I have to have some roller derby fun every weekend of summer, no matter how humid. AND when things get really hot, cause it will, they have a water play area so you (and I) can easily cool off. Side note: This is a must visit when traveling with children.

Now, when I just want to spread out, take some sun and get my reading done I ride my not-so-fancy bike to Long Meadow. It's picturesque, spacious, and relaxes me no matter what hell I've been through and back.
