Isa Genzken, has been producing art for the last thirty years and counting. Lucky for us, the MoMA is one of the first museums in the US to display such a comprehensive retrospective of her work. Not only that, we're also getting the chance to indulge in a female's artist point of view, which is pretty refreshing after all the retrospectives and studies dedicated to male artists.
We get to see all the different types of mediums she has worked in, and some pieces get their first round of being displayed to an American audience. Something to pay a little more attention to when you visit: her assemblage of the "Schauspieler" or mannequins as you enter her exhibition. Each one is dressed differently and so vividly and behind them are old posters from previous art shows. It's definitely eye-catching.
For those of you who appreciate lost and found or collage work, make sure you make this a priority on your next round of art-ing!
